Risk Assessment
Considerations
Without specialist training, a foot team cannot search closer than 3 metres to the water’s edge, for their own personal safety.

This rule is not applicable to transit between search sectors but an utmost level of care should still always be taken around water.

Bank search is a specific search technique for team members who will be required to search up to and no further than the water’s edge.

A bank searcher should not intentionally enter the water even if wearing the correct PPE but should understand what to do in the event of accidental immersion.
